Picturesque Grand Lake and Rocky Mountain National Park.
In the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Grand Lake is the deepest natural lake in Colorado. With plenty of public docks, a swim beach, shopping, dining, live entertainment, activities in the city park including weekly family Bingo - Grand Lake Colorado is the quaint and quintessential mountain village that is knee-deep in fun, rather than knee-deep in hip.
Winter creates a special wonderland. Grand Lake is the "Snowmobile Capital of Colorado" and that means over 125 miles of groomed trails to explore. Enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing and more.
And just a couple of miles to the north is the west entrance to one of the nation's most spectacular national parks - the legendary Rocky Mountain National Park. Celebrating its 100 year anniversary, the park offers 350 miles of hiking and back-packing trails, 150 lakes and 476 miles of creeks and streams that feature Rainbow trout, brown trout, brook trout, Mackinaw and Kokanee.
Boardwalk storefronts pay homage to Grand Lake's western heritage. Shops, restaurants, and pubs line the main street and you just might find a horse or two 'parked" next to your car! Grand Lake comes to life at night with live entertainment at the local saloons.
Sunbathing to boat rentals ... The sandy beach at Grand Lake is a throwback to private resorts in the 40's. The kids will love it. And so will you!
Boating and Fishing on Grand Lake
Bring your boat or rent anything from canoes to kayaks to family-sized pontoon boats. The town's public docks make it easy to tie up and go into town for a few hours. Then , it's back on the water for skiing, tubing or exploring every inch of shorline.
Events throughout the Year
From local parades to weekly Bingo in the Pavilion Park to a live Broadway show at the Rocky Mountain Reperatory Theater - a once-in-a-lifetime experience for all.
Meadow below Mt. Craig ("Mt. Baldy")
A beaver-worked meadow less than a mile up the trail beyond Adams Falls. The hike is gentle and short and makes a great family outing - even with young children. Our 4- and 6-year old grandchildren easily make this hike with us.
Adams Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park
From the east shore of Grand Lake is the trailhead of a short walk to these falls that feed into the lake.
